Description
History

One of the greatest names in the history of Motorsports is that of Harry Arminius Miller.

Miller’s genius, assisted by the great automotive engineer Leo Gossen, created the most advanced racing car designs ever seen, including the Miller 183, 122 and his famous 91 Series, usually seen on the starting grid of the Indianapolis 500, and often at the finish line. Miller cars dominated racing for almost half a century.

The Front-wheel Drive and Four-wheel drive of the1930’s led to the Miller-Gulf cars and led directly to the famous Miller-Offenhauser of the 1950’s, known simply as the “Offy”.

This model is of the famous “Perfect Circle 3”. The stunning as-restored bright yellow livery is period race correct, and the machine is valued at over $5,000,000 US.

The Model

This high resolution 2,060,884 poly CAD model, created in SolidWorks™ from extensive research and many photographs, is one of my projects in the field of Industrial Archeology. It is full-size (1:1) and accurately scaled. The modeling quality allows for extreme close-ups and rendering. It is ideally suited for hero and foreground shots within early 20th Century period sets and CG’s. The motor is not detailed as it never showed.

It is offered as a Parasolid x_t, a SolidWorks 2013 assembly and an OBJ. All parts were UV color-mapped in SolidWorks™, and migrate to the .obj format.

The SolidWorks™ model was converted to .obj using SymLab Composer. The .obj zip contains both “Based on Materials” and “Based on Structure” versions.

Renderings were created in KeyShot2 4 Pro from Luxion.
