TurboSquid and Cubicspace® Announce Release of rtre ™ 2.0
(New Orleans, LA – April 10, 2008) – TurboSquid, a publishing partner of Autodesk Certified Animation Plug-Ins (ACAP), and Cubicspace, developer and manufacturer for their real-time rendering solution, is pleased to announce that rtre™ ACAP version 2.0 is now available.
Since 2003, when the award-winning rtre 1.1 was first released, Cubicspace has invested in a complete redesign of the product. Version 2.0 has a new natural user interface with many more tools, features, and major speed improvements for bigger, more complex scenes, optimized scene handling and rtre’s trademark integration within 3ds max viewports.
“I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved with rtre v2 after a considerable effort,” says Steven Markham, CEO and co-founder of Cubicspace. “We listened to our users’ comments and included what they needed within the new version to deliver breathtaking improvements for real-time rendering and interaction.”
rtre 2.0 enables the exploration of scenes from quick interactive studies to full multimedia presentations, giving the ability to convey your design intent with richer, superior quality images generated considerably quicker than traditional rendering. The noticeable improvements are most obvious around performance and realism. With even more combinations of materials within a scene, you can experiment with ideas throughout your design process, regardless of the complexity.
Running within Autodesk 3ds max® 9, 2008, and the brand new 3ds max 2009, updating scene information dynamically in real time is a snap. rtre 2.0 provides sophisticated publishing tools to output royalty-free runtime, interactive and standalone scenes for distribution, as well as images and movies. rtre 2.0 also allows you to visualize your designs and communicate the vision to clients, colleagues and consultants quickly, while retaining an even higher presentation standard.
Users from a variety of industries have benefited from rtre since its first release in 2003, including architectural, industrial, boat and car designers, advertising, expos and conferences, theatre lighting, and many more.
One significant and long-term user of rtre 1.1 is BAA (British Airport Authority), the world’s largest airport owner and operator.
BAA used rtre to help them visualize and implement changes to Heathrow (Terminals 1-4), Gatwick, Stansted, Edinburgh, and Budapest. The software helped the company to navigate through complex and accurate airport models, which enabled them to consider realistic and significant design improvements, make instant changes, and save substantial time and cost. Countless other organizations have similar stories of success and cost savings.
BAA has been quoted as saying “rtre is an invaluable tool that lets you visualize your designs and communicate your vision to clients, colleagues, and consultants. It’s a must-have for anyone who is tired of waiting to see their creations.”
New rtre Version 2.0
Significant improvements have been made for rtre 2.0, which delivers enhanced support for native 3ds max materials and maps (including procedurals and architectural materials). Support for gravity, new navigation modes: orbit and fly, a new mathematically accurate grid, new gradient backgrounds, significant improvements to cameras, animations, views, and how they are managed, are just a few of the new features. An automatic lighting map allows users to use unlit scenes instantly without need any lighting set-ups, and with support for render-to-texture and native 3ds max materials even more compelling realism can be achieved.
The newly designed and streamlined user interface consists of a series of modeless floating dialogs that gives the user an easy-to-understand layout, as well as support for 3ds max quad menus and toolbars. Users of rtre v2.0 will immediately notice a dramatic increase in the speed of their workflow and the reduction of repetitive tasks and setups.
