Turbo Squid Releases Flight Studio 1.5

New Release from Bluerock Allows More Efficient OpenFlight® Editing along with New Features

(New Orleans, LA – May 4, 2005) - Turbo Squid™, home of the world’s largest collection of royalty-free 3D products and worldwide publisher and distributor for the Discreet Certified 3ds Max Plug-in program, today announced the release of Flight Studio 1.5, from Bluerock Technologies.

Flight Studio 1.5 offers visual simulation professionals the ability to:

  • Import, edit and export OpenFlight scene graphs and databases from within 3ds Max easier and more efficiently
  • Quickly and efficiently build accurate models and complex scenes
  • Leverage features such as an easy-to-use hierarchy browser, familiar user interface controls, and direct node attribute editing
  • Retain scene graph structure and attributes
  • Load and edit large scene graphs to produce accurate and visually compelling models and terrain databases

Existing visual simulation 3D modeling and translation tools can create unexpected side effects when working with OpenFlight data, causing time-consuming reworks. Now, with Flight Studio 1.5, users can be more productive, efficient, cost-effective, accurate and compelling in creating real-time visual simulations with the powerful combination of 3ds Max software from Autodesk and Flight Studio 1.5, a Discreet Certified 3ds Max Plug-in from Bluerock Technologies.

Flight Studio will allow the user to load, edit and export OpenFlight scene graphs and databases from within Discreet's 3ds Max, all while retaining scene graph structure and attributes. This new 3ds Max plug-in will offer OpenFlight artists unparalleled access to the scene graph and its attributes, enabling new capabilities not currently available in any other tool. Features include scene graph and attribute editing and LOD management all while maintaining the original scene graph structure. In addition to these features OpenFlight artists can continue to use the full range of award wining content creation tools available in 3ds Max, including polygonal and multi-resolution mesh modeling, unwrap UV modifier, texture baking, real-world lighting, and vertex paint modifier. Given the powerful creation tools available with 3ds Max, artists will have a new platform for creating accurate, efficient and compelling OpenFlight databases.

Key features of Flight Studio 1.5 include:

  • Plug-in for 3ds Max to import/export OpenFlight data
  • Direct editing of scene graph attributes and elements from within 3ds Max
  • Ability to retain original scene graph information
  • Highly flexible workflows, enabling seamless transfer of files between OpenFlight and 3ds Max
