The MG TC is a beautiful British sports car which caused an international sensation following World War II, as many Americans who had been stationed in England and throughout Europe fell in love with it and had one of their own imported back to the United States. The January 10, 1949 issue of Life magazine featured an article called “MG Midget Craze” which documented the phenomenon and the many car clubs that sprang up around this tiny, iconic roadster.
This model is available in the following formats: .mb, .ma, .fbx, and .3ds. Please be advised that the model was created in Maya 2010 and the Maya model comes equipped with additional rigging functionality, level of detail options, and layered shaders that the .fbx and .3ds versions do not have.
The Maya version comes already rigged with the following attributes: Steering (simultaneously turns the steering wheel and front wheels), Door Driver and Door Passenger, Hood Right and Hood Left, Windscreen Wipers, Wheels Turn, Windscreen Up/Down, Suspension Brake/Accelerate, and Suspension Turning. To access these attributes, make sure the Master Controller layer is visible. The controller object is the small sphere hovering about the car.
There is a detailed engine and undercarriage. Because the design of the hood and fenders makes part of the undercarriage highly visible, there are flexible brake lines rigged for the two front wheels (Maya version). There are two windscreen types to choose from, and the convertible top can be selected as up (with additional side windows), or down and tucked away in the rear compartment. These optional configurations are set up as color-coded layers in Maya. For the .fbx and .3ds files, you'll simply need to select and hide/show the configuration of your choice.
This is a high-poly model that is intended for realistic film/video and photography applications. With the Maya version, however, many parts of the car can be switched between relatively higher-poly and lower-poly settings. There are many possible configurations, but here's a general guide: the higher poly version with the convertible top up, side windows attached and both windscreens installed has 268,293 faces. The lower poly version in basic configuration has 118,364 faces.
