used the low poly version obj in c4d. stuck it in a hypernurbs and it worked like a charm

Worked only with hyper nurb. But was still able to manipulate enough to get what I needed.
Description
High quality 3D Cartoon 'Thumbs-Up' hand model and open hand model. This product includes low and high resolution polygonal models (quads/tris) of a cartoon hand spread open and in a 'thumbs-up' pose. Two texture maps are included for these models: One is a color map for the hand and the other is an incandescent map to lighten the fingernails. I have included a photoshop psd file with layers for both texture maps for easy editing. The material used on the models is a basic Maya Blinn shader.

This model can be used in images or animations that involve approving or disapproving, rating, encouraging, celebrating, grading, like/dislike, etc. For example, the model could be used for giving 'two thumbs up!' or 'two thumbs down!' for a film or movie. The open hand could be used in a 'high five' gesture, or it is perfect for a blendshape with the thumbs-up model for animation. The open hand can also be used as any other hand model.   

UV maps have been flattened with no overlapping UVs. Polygons are modeled in such a way to mimic the natural flow of a hand, with creases in the palm. Fingers were stylized thick for a fun, cartoon look.

These hands could work independently as mentioned above, or they could be incorporated into a 3D character. To save time, a modeler could easily take one or both of these hands, duplicate them, and combine them into an existing model either connecting the polys, inserting them into cuffs or sleeves, or letting them float for a character with no arms. There are many possibilities.
