This is an AVI that can be used to demonstrate the operation of earth sensors.
One of the first operations preformed on a satellite is Earth capture. This is an animation of what the satellite earth sensor sees when it is first locked onto the earth. As the earth approaches the center of scan it's momentum causes it to swing back and forth around center as it comes to rest in the centered position. After it is stable it transitions to normal scan that reduces the field of view and produces tighter control.
It is intended for use as a training aid to provide a background during discussion. This can be used to show Earth sensor modes, the initial earth capture, the recovery process, and sensor fields of view.
This AVI contains 480 frames and runs in 16 seconds start to finish. It is rendered in letterbox format, non-interlaced at 3 resolutions 1280x720, 1024x600 and 736x398, compression was using Cinepak Codec by Radius with the quality set to 100%.
