These models were painstakingly constructed based on Kevin O'Neill's illustrations from the 'Nemesis The Warlock' series featured in 2000AD comics. The story, if you don't know it, is a sprawling tale of bigotry and intrigue set in a nightmare future universe filled with aliens and humans existing under a terrifying regime. O'Neill's twisted artwork and Pat Mill's storytelling combined to create an unforgettable series.
The lwo zip file includes the objects and UV images featured in the renders and a sample setup scene with rest pose and basic IK walk. To learn the rig, try rotating the various targets to see what they do - to rotate the knees, use the bank control on the small hip bones. Be sure to enable relativity and make it interactive when you load the scene (found in the additional plugins). To get the cape to move, you need to calculate the dynamics. I'm not the best at rigging but it should be enough to get you going!
The Blitzspear (has to be one of the best spaceships of all time) has a hatch and a rear gun on separate layers.
The objects are subpatched, composed entirely of quads and triangles.
The obj, dae and fbx files will need to be subpatched or subdivided to achieve the same look as the lwos. You will need to download the main lwo zip file to get the UV images, but it's not a massive download as the lwo files are tiny.
I will upload further characters from the series as I make them including Torquemada, Purity Brown and various aliens...
I hope you enjoy these objects and if anyone wanted to make an animated version of the comic then I would love to help!
