This plant, as both the Latin and common English names suggest, is a species whose growth can be terrestrial or epiphytic – meaning an air plant which grows on the body of other plants, but does not derive it’s nourishment from them. When growing on trees,
the plant effectively recalls a bird’s nest. It survives gathering water and humus in it’s leaf-rosette. When growing on the ground, it forms dense formations, covering ground completely.
