Minoan civilisation flourished between 2700 and 1500 BC on Crete. Their most famous site is an ancient palace Knossos. They made their columns from trunks of cypress trees, placing them on stone bases oriented with their roots up to prevent them sprouting once in place. This inverted orientation gave the columns their characteristical downwards tappered shape.
The model is provided in two versions - low polygonal (780 tris, 406 polys, 394 verts) and high polygonal (5164 tris, 2582 polys, 2586 verts). The high polygonal model can be further smoothed if needed.
