Description
The Byodo- in consists of a central hall flanked by two wings corridors on both sides and a rear corridor . In 1053 established the central hall , also Amida Hall or since the early Edo period Phoenix -Halle called , is an image of Amida Buddha. On the roof of the hall are statues of Feng Huang (in Japanese Hoo ) - often translated as Phoenix. The hall and various other objects in the Byodo- in are national treasures of Japan.

In the context of civil unrest burned 1,336 other buildings on the site of the temple. Right at the front of the temple pond is created. In 1997 he was dredged for archaeological excavations.
