The given polycount applies to the standing lamp. Values for the desk lamp:
Both lamps are fully rigged. The light intensity and color are controlled by a ''luminaire'' helper. The joints are linked to ''cone angle'' helpers or dummies. All geometry is frozen so its easy to select the helpers. See the preview video below for a demonstration of the animation controls.
Most circular objects (The shades,the rods etc.) have 64 sides and are suitable for close-ups. If you need more or less sides, you can adjust this by expanding the modifier stack and editing the base object.
Renders are done with 3dsMax 2008 + Vray, except for the ''Max Only Render'' watermarked image.

-kitchen.hdr: The well known environment map by debevec was used for the vray renders
-Scratches.jpg: Used as bump for the painted metal rods and shade.
Note: The rods of the desk version have reflective chrome as material. The rods of the standing lamp have painted metal as material. This can be changed swapped by assigning other materials.
