| This is a High Definition 3D model of the F-1 engine used on the Saturn V first stage (S-1C) to launch man into earth orbit and onward to the moon. Modeled with precision using detailed 1:48 scale blueprints, schematic diagrams and extensive photographic research. 6 high resolution texture maps (colour and bump) accurately depict all engine bell surface corrugation details. Manufactured by the Rocketdyne division of North American Aviation, the F-1 remains to this day the most powerful rocket engine yet built. It is a single start engine producing 1,500,000 pounds of fixed thrust, via the biopropellant mixture of RP-1 kerosene and liquid oxygen, which equates to approximately 32 million bhp. Although historically used solely on the Saturn V launch vehicle, the F-1 could serve as a general purpose engine for 3D modelers interested in designing more futuristic or fantasy spacecraft. Although over 40 years old, like it's counterpart the J-2 engine which is currently being re-utilised on the upcoming Ares Constellation project, maybe the F-1 may yet again take mankind aloft in years to come...
