With the ever-changing face of modern warfare, emerging threats have caused government and military leaders to recognize the critical need for vehicles that can protect armed forces and security personnel today and in the years to come. Current Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Combat Engineer response vehicles provide inadequate armor protection, and lack the capability to carry all of the required EOD equipment. The first Joint Explosive Ordnance Disposal Rapid Response Vehicle (JERRV) known as Cougar, is a medium mine-protected vehicle available in two variants: a 4x4 EOD variant or 6x6 Engineer variant. This vehicle was designed and built to provide increased survivability to EOD and Combat Engineer Mine Clearing teams in known threat areas. - Provide EOD and Engineer units with improved survivability against IEDs.
