De Haviland Mosquito NF30: 219 Squadron, RAF, 1945
Description
The third prototype Mosquito served as the prototype of the warplanes fighter variants, and the first production fighter variant was the NFII which incorporated a solid nose containing four 20mm Hispano cannon, four 0.303' machine guns and AI MKIV airborne interception radar. The De Haviland Mosquito NF30 of 1944 was the ultimate allied night fighter of the second world war. With two stage Rolls Royce Merlins and a bull nose capable of accomodating either British or American radar sets and capable of a top speed well in excess of 400 mph the Mosquito NF30 was in a class of it's own at night.
