BTR 80 is incarnation of BTR 70, just bigger better faster and safer, could fit more troops in, improved entranse and exit points, more holes for troops to fire their weapon from, better radiation protection, improved 14mm machine gun paired with 7.62 PKT, new addition is smoke launchers and new 1000BHp disel engine, new gearbox with frictions to assist tight spot tourning ala tank on the spot. bit of history, btr 80 was deployed in mid 80's with soviet army and straight into hotspot of afganistan, it proved it self as powerfull transport platform with bullet protection as a plus side. BTR 80 was supplied to almoust every republic of soviet uninon in short time, its still in service with most of then and will be well into 21st cetntury.
