| The model works well with both mental ray and scanline renderers. Night lights are realistically diffused when the model doesn't recieve enough illumination from light sources. For those with commercial bitmaps or higher quality ones, the model can easily be re-mapped, with all realism generated by the hierarchy of the material editor maintained. Each material element has a name describing it's purpose. The model is not in any assembly or group, nor collapsed, and is composed of 3 spheres. The zip archive contains the model in the file format 'max'. The archive includes all source bitmaps used in the creation process as well: Earth Diffuse, Earth Cloud Map, Earth Region Mask, Earth Night Lights, and Earth Topology Bump Map. Also includes updated file for 3ds Max 2008 (.max). In the new file, the green fresnel effect near the edges of the atmosphere is corrected to be blue, as shown in the default image above. It may be necessary to reload the bitmaps when loading the scene in 3ds Max. |
