Description
The VSSK Vychlop (Exhaust) was revealed in late 2005 at the INTERPOLITEX show in Moscow. The rifle is intended for special operations that require silent firing and improved penetration to that provided by other subsonic sniper rifles, most prominently the VSS Vintorez. The most important feature of the weapon is the specially developed 12.7mm (.50 calibre) reduced power subsonic ammunition. With a subsonic muzzle velocity of around 290 metres per second, the high penetration, 59 gram bullet is easily capable of piercing car bodies, body armour or other cover. It can defeat a 16mm steel plate at 200 metres.

The subsonic muzzle velocity eliminates much of the noise from firing, and the large integral suppressor dampens the firing report considerably. Accuracy at 100 metres is reported to be 1 minute of angle, with a maximum accurate range of 600 metres. This is relativley short for a sniper rifle, but as the VSSK is intended mainly for use in closer range urban engagements this is less of a drawback.

The VSSK holds 5 rounds in a detachable box magazine, has an adjustable shoulder pad and cheek rest, and is fitted with backup iron sights. The integral suppressor is removable for storage and transportation, but the rifle should not be fired without the suppressor in place.
