The MAC-10 can provide good firepower due to its very high rate of fire (1100 RPM). However the low weight and small size of the machine pistol results in considerable recoil, making the weapon a challenge to control. The effective range is quite short, around 25 metres. This makes the MAC-10 an ideal choice for building sweeps, airliner rescue situations and other engagements occurring at very short range. The great firepower and low probability of dangerous over-penetration make the MAC-10 an ideal weapon in such situations.

The MAC-10 machine pistol is recoil operated and fires from an open bolt. The receiver is made from two pieces of stamped steel (upper and lower), connected by a steel pin. The charging handle is located on top of the weapon and does not reciprocate when firing. The muzzle of the weapon is threaded to accept a suppressor. A folding steel stock extends from the rear of the receiver.

This MAC-10 is chambered in the most common calibre for this firearm, .45 ACP. It weighs 2.84 kilograms and is equipped with a 30 round detachable box magazine.
