Roman pens, inkwell, and open and closed wax writing tablets.
Description
The open tablet has a Greek text inscribed into the wax. The pens, inkwell and tablets are based on archaeologcal finds and depictions of similar objects in Roman art (like the famous fresco of Terentius Neo and his wife at Pompeii). The tablets could be folded up and tied closed with the thongs or sealed with wax. These models are designed to go with the collection of Roman papyrus book scrolls elsewhere on the site (search for MCN2304), pictured in the library reconstruction above.
