This product is actual Anchorage digital terrain data converted into MAX, with satellite photos as the texture maps. Source of the digital data is USGS DTED level 2, and the satellite photos are unclassified satellite observations.
Description
AKTerrain.3ds is a conversion of United States Geological Survey (USGS) Digital Elevation Terrain (DTED) level two. AKTerrain.max is the geographic area into from the Northwest corner at N62-W151, to the Southwest corner at N60-W149. Geographic areas include Anchorage, Chugiak Mountains, Portage Glacier, Wasilla, and the Cook Inlet and covers roughly 14,000 square miles. Satellite photos and mountain texture maps are applied to the Anchorage and Chugiak Mountain area. Satellite photos and maps are included in the download. All files are free. After download these files are ready for animating, no additional texture mapping required.
