| The Global Flyer was designed for a solo non-stop circumnavigation of the globe. It is expected to ride the fast jetstreams to make the distance. Pilot will be Steve Fosset, with Sir Richard Branson as a reserve. It has a 2,13 m long pressurised cockpit in which the pilot sits in a reclining chair aided by a digital 3-axis autopilot system. The two long booms to carry the majority of the fuel load. The Global Flyer was unveiled at the Scaled Composite facility in Mojave, California, on 8 January 2004. The aircraft having been completed in December. |
