55-foot sailboat modeled simultaneously in Carrara 4.0 and SolidWorks 2005 to utilize the benefits of both programs. Although the final product is a surface-based 3D model, many components were initially created as solid models in CAD to ensure the smoothest possible geometry where complex surfaces and fillets would have been difficult for Carrara. The result is a highly-detailed and very aesthetic model provided in three file formats: .car, .3ds, and .obj. At 57,000 polygons, the sailboat contains all appropriate details including skylights, storage compartments, vents, cleats, pulleys, winches, deck hardware, railings, rigging, propeller, and more. Product even includes the ocean texture map used in the preview renders above.
