Unlike the other Rhynie plants, thought, Asteroxylon could probably survive in temporarily dry environment. The vertical stems raised from a long horizontal stem which was connected with the roots. The leaves looked like scales tightly pressed on the stem. For scientific reasons, this plant is today regarded as the ancestor of today’s clubmosses.
