The Sugar Cane is a tall perennial grass with a thick stem and long broad leaves. It is chewed for the sweet taste, or it can be pressed to render a syrup used for production of brown sugar, cane syrup, molasses, wax and rum. The refused cane is used for paper, cardboard and fuel.
