Description
A quick and dirty procedural material in a Max 5.0 file applied to a sample object. I have included both the .MAT file and the .MAX file. A planar UVW map modifier is applied to the disk shown.

The material is designed as a quick workaround to emulate the surface of a CD-ROM. This is a newer version than previous. I used a Gradient Ramp, spiral/linear, as the reflection map, and used a basic expression to rotate the GRADIENT MAP'S W ROTATION VALUE a little faster than the CD rotates on its Z axis.

Note: This depends on the CD rotating on its Z, not on camera position.

It's just something to play with :)

Enjoy,
andy rak
