Here are some tips and tweaks for this material: ------------------------------------------------ FOR FIRE: ========= Now this was an optional extra i threw in and allows you to create very realistic fire effects easily using this same material- simply enable the FILTER COLOUR map (off by default) and voila! instant flamethrower/billowing type fire. TIP: if you set up 2 particle systems, one for flame and one for fire (filter on and filter off), you can get quite a nice effect of fire merging into billowing smoke. Colour and Texture: =================== To change the colur of the smoke to anything you desire, simply go into the diffuse map slot and alter the falloff colours there accordingly. It is recommended though, that you keep the colours one shade darker than the other as seen by default. For the texture of the smoke (intermediate) you will need to go into the opacity map slot and thenselect one of the mask slots and alter the smoke map settings. This can be quite tricky at first but after some experimenting you will probably figure out how it is working and be able to get some better results then the defaults. Detail and Optimising Render Time ================================= By default the smoke material will be set on optimal, but if you wish to add more detail you can use the following options. Note that these may decrease rendering time. Addtional surface detail - enable the bump map and the material More consistant volume - enable 2-sided material PLEASE NOTE: TURN OFF SPECULAR MAP AS IT SHOULD BE OFF BY DEFAULT!! |
