With the intention of replacing the aging DC-10-30, it was launched a programme to develop the 767-400 ER in early 1997. The aims and objectives of the programme were met by stretching the existing 767-300 ER fuselage by some 6.4 metres. This lengthening modification is split into a 3.4 metre forward stretch and a 3.0 metre aft stretch. The increase in length allows the new aircraft to seat 15% more passengers than the original 300 series. This translates into a seating capacity of 245 to 375 passengers and allows the aircraft to fill the niche between the 767-300 and the 777-200. The targetted market segment positions the new aircraft as a keen competitor to the A330-200.B_767-400 ER Textured as Continental Airlines Very high definition model Highly detailed and very accurate |
