Halo editing and gmax

This may be old news... here's a quote from the Gearbox forums..."Gearbox has also been working on converting this exporter plug-in to work with gmax, which is the free 3D modeling and animation tool based on 3DSMax." ( Click <a href="http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/HaloPCEditingFAQ.htm" target="_blank">here</a> to read the Editing FAQ ). Wouldn't this be nice? I poked around a bit on the editing forums and found out Halo folks are using gmax like crazy already to edit this game, even though it looks like the native format is Lightwave's .lwo format. ( Tools exist to model and export from gmax to this format, or to convert them...). Is anyone doing this with Halo?

Did I read wrong or did it say that it would have a .3ds export for gmax???

i'am making a halo weapon but i dont know stuff search ObiTrev then click on the thread i started on halo modding

There's nothing in this statement to indicate a .3ds export. Would be nice, though:)
