Which render are you using?

What type of lighting and shadows?

I can guess, but it is your scene.

If it's the graininess in the shadows you're talking about, this is usually solved by raising your sampling quality and/or changing the shadow type and parameters.  It looks like it might be using mental ray, so go into your 'Renderer' tab and increase the samples per pixel (1/4 and 4 are my defaults here). Try increasing that to 1 and 4 or even 4 and 16.

Also, depending on the type of shadows you are casting, try using Ray Traced Shadows or Area Shadows. As Tim said, it's important to know which renderer, shadow type, and lights you are using and what they are set at.

EDIT: and on top of this, it's also important to know what you're going for overall heheh :)

read the help about the mental ray and how you get nice and attractive render .
this noise is due to the low quality of indirect and bouncing lights .

read the help , they explain it step by step

Ok, you are using the Scanline renderer.

What type of lights are you using to light the scene?

What type of shadows are assigned to the lights?

You need to increase the rays per sample on the skyight. Select the skylight then go to the modify tap. With higher rays per sample you'll have less grain in your shadows. Increasing this will also greatly increase your render time.

you will not see anything change in the P.view only when use active shade because p.view is not render. or when you render the view. if you add a light tracer or turn on the FG final gather if you want to make your text better. if you turn on the light trace and add a bouce then the light will bounce off the text.

Here is a simple scene rendered using Scanline. One Plane and an Extruded Text object.

The only lighting is a Skylight.

The top render has the Rays per Sample set to 5, the middle 10, and bottom 20.

Do you have any other lights in the scene?

Antid,

Any chance you are changing the Rays per Sample in the Create panel, rather than the Modifier panel? Check the illustration in my prevous post. I'm using the Modify panel, 2nd from the left. EDIT Sorry, I cropped off the top of the Modifier panel in the image.

Changing the settings in the Create Panel only affects the current creation.

OK, GUYS. LETS CONFUSE A LITTLE BIT MORE THIS GUY: FOR A SIMPLE SKYLIGHT WHAT WORKS BETTER TO RENDER IS AN "ADVANCED LIGHTING" PLUG IN, LIKE "LIGHT TRACER" AND ALL THE TWEAKING IT SHOULD GET. WHY DONT YOU READ YOUR USER REFERENCE FILES?
