Thanks to shoni88 for the great idea I have improved my network communications model with an overlay of the earth. It really turned out good, any suggestions to improve the model even more are greatly appreaciated. im very intrigued with this concept and im curious as to how far I can take it.

It took me about a week because I was only working on it sporadically when ever a had a moment here and there. On the whole though it wasnt a lot of extra work because I already had a earth model made I just needed to tweak it a little to fit the artistic style i was looking for. Also as you will see when turbosquid finally unhides my item is I added a lot more nodes and connections to the internet framework so it looks a lot more complex and spherical.

In 3dsmax is there a way to set the z-buffer (I think thats what it is at least) so that something behind a plane actually renders in fron of it. Ive acheived this effect in real time rendering by accident, but if i can get it to work in max I know how to get a very very cool effect out of this.

It has turned out really well matey. Iv'e always liked these kind of renders. Nice earth ; - )
I think the internet matrix itself, just need to be a tad more visible. Then it'll look really good. ANd if it were mine, i'd throw the sun in too ; - )

I completly agree with you, I just cant figure out how to make the internet matrix more visible, The self-illumination is all the way up, other then that Im not to sure what to do.I suppose I could increase the transparency of the earth but then you wouldnt be able to see the earth. Any help would be awesome :)
