makemdl help

 I built a plane in gmax and want to export it to an .mdl file but i get "makemdl was not found or failed to convert the model" error message. I searched the forum and google but nothing helped me. I exported a box successfully so the problem is with this specific model. Here is what the log said....

Why aren't you asking at one of the more active modeling forums, such as http://freeflightdesign.com http://avsim.com http://fsdeveloper.com or http://flightsim.com ???

In any case, you apparently have some naming problems with animated parts. Any part that has been keyframe animated must have the precise partname that corresponds with that animation!

ERROR: Animation trigger Cylinder03 not found, mapped to "userdefined8"

"Cylinder03" does not match any "stock partname" nor any "custom partname" specified in the MakeMDL.parts.xml file. What is this part?

You have probably keyframe animated the "rudder." This is incorrect since "rudder" is a "stock animation."

The correct partname is "r_aileron"

The correct partname is "l_aileron"

"Gdoorfront" is not a valid partname. Try "Door_Cargo" instead. Must be keyframe animated.

Neither of the above are valid partnames. Unless you are going to write custom XML code, the only option is to use the partname "Door_Passenger_01" and "Door_Passenger_02" for the above. However, both doors will open/close together using Shift-E command in the sim.

I strongly recommend that you join us (that is FS modelers!) at one or all of the webforums listed above!

What's wrong with answering the questions asked then referring the OP to additional resources where they can find fellow FS modelers?

It's painfully obvious that this is not a particularly good resource for FS modelers, given that the only forum here referencing FS is "FS2002" ... now a nearly decade old sim version, and two revisions behind. :)

Oh, okay... I guess "he/she/it" not only got banned, but all messages deleted as well, since I saw no other message to which your comment could have referred...
