New company, new idea, MASSIVE potential!

I know that your time is limited, so I will be straight to the point and will try not to prevaricate around the bush too much!

I am one of 4 gentlemen who have begun the endeavor to create a brand new MMORPG unlike anything else on the market (here's a hint, NO gnomes, and NO goblins anywhere in this game!). We've generated some very serious interest from several publishers whilst attending GDC San Francisco 2008, and are in need of a demo in addition to our design documents, in order to transform the interests into a deal.

Now I cannot begin to elate to you just how serious and genuine this situation is, but we honestly have scheduled "sit-down" meetings with Electronic Arts and Activision as well as three other game publishers as soon as we have all the materials for a presentation.

I know that if I could relay the details of the game right now, you would instantly become just as passionate about seeing it in development as I am; but because of the nature of the gaming industry, a Non Disclosure Agreement would need to be digitally signed before I could ramble on about the idea that has been pouring out of my head for the last year.

Suffice-it-to-say, we had initially contracted a third-party company to create the demo for us. But due to some unforeseen circumstances, the money that we had available to us to pay this company, has become tied up, and will not be available for a few months.

I would like to see if I could secure some help in creating the demo we'll need ourselves (or at least pieces of it).  As I am the only modeler that our team currently has available, and because I am actually the writer and creator of the game; my time has been spent developing the world map, story lines, background lore, and concept sketches as well as putting together the complete design document that publishers will need.

We all have full-time jobs that must be maintained to ensure our bills get paid and families are fed, so I am completely aware that this is something that might only be done in your "free time" and will not expect you to push everything else aside for the sake of this project.  But I will make you this promise. The very minute that we receive funding for development of this project, I will make it my life's goal to compensate you for any and all time and materials that you've allowed us to use. And should you be interested, I will invite you to become a permanent part of this project for the years to come.

This is not a joke, scam, or some hopped-up passing fancy! This is my life!  I am very aware of how the precarious the cliffs are in the game industry, but I am willing to jump with both feet foreword because of how original this idea is. And my passion for seeing this game in development seemingly knows no bounds. So I please ask that if you are not genuinely interested in either helping or becoming a part of something that will ultimately be incredible, then refrain from commenting on this post.  Although any words of encouragement are gratefully appreciated.

For those of you who ARE interested about this endeavor, or perhaps would like a few questions answered before deciding?  Please feel free to contact me.

Thank you so much for your time, and best of luck to us all.

Sincerely,

Jeremy W. Wilburn

As sort of an idea of what I am looking at creating, here is one of the models that is close to completion.

I would appreciate ANY help that I can get.  As far as the software that I am using: I prefer to model in Max, but have used Maya for lots of things as well, so I would like to stick within those two programs. But, I am sure that just about any 3D software can be moved back and forth between architectures with little problems. I have 6 characters that need to modeled and textured. 2 of the characters will need to be rigged for animation, and the other 4 will just need to be modeled in place to show the different character classes. There are two additional characters that are modeled already, and the scene, but IF the company that I've mentioned above is not able to finish the initial characters and scene, then I will most likely have to recreate those as well.

IF you are truly interested, then shoot me and email at jeremy.wilburn@splitcode.com and I will arrange to get you a concept sketch or two that you can look at.

Just looking at the one model, looks like a great idea, I would love to try and help if I had time during the summer, but I don't think my skills are anywhere near what you are looking for.  You using polygons, NURBs, or subdivs?

I've made some GREAT contacts of people who are eager to help out on this project, but I could always beg for a couple more.

So I am bumping this puppy again to catch some attention.

Please read the post above and respond accordingly.

i would like to help but i am not sure what exactly do you need. about modeling i will send you photo of my silver surfer and i wish you very best luck with your project.

I appreciate your honesty.  It's hard to find these days.  But if you are truly interested in helping out, you might want to shoot me an email and get a better idea of what I am trying to create before you pass judgment from a single sample. There was no offense taken, and I hope that there is none implied.

I guess all we really have these days is luck.  And I wish the best of it to everyone.
