User reviews are a bit lacking - need more detail!
Posted 27-Apr-2008 4:15 PM

Just started using TurboSquid a bit more recently, and I really wish the user reviews were more developed.  I think reveiwers should be required to add a description justifying the score --

Just having a star rating without a written review is pretty useless.  Why is something rated 4 stars?  Because you like the texture?  Because the model is well constructed?  Does it accurately match the description?  Why did you rate something only 1 star?  Is it because you hate the color?  Is it because the description said low poly and it wasn't?

Also, sometimes I see models that say they have 5 ratings or whatever, but I only see one or two on the page.  What's up with that?

The rating system is flawed. It should only be buyers who are allowed to rate. If you will notice there are a group of raters that rate each others work. Just check out the artist forum and you will see that some artist ask for ratings but doesn`t get rated. But when someone from the rating group asks for ratings, there`s a rating given of 5 stars right away. Three or four 5 stars given to a fellow rater. Observe the group of raters who do this to bump up their status to top raters. Now the problem with this is the customers get a false sense of security that actual customers already bought the product. There`s no need to point out who those raters are. You`ll see them posting a lot in the artist forum calling each other by names not by handle. TS should really take away the rating system by artist and only implement a customer`s ratings system
