help
Posted 03-Apr-2008 7:39 PM

hi there. im a hobbiest 3D max user. i took an EMedia course for two years and am hooked. at the moment im using 3D max 7 and have built a 3D gallery to walk around housing pictures that ive painted(im an artist). I have exported the scene to Macromedia director in a shockwave file and have managed to create a free roaming camera controlled by the arrow keys. what i can not do is stop the camera going throught the walls. i can not use lingo cos i dont know how to. i have the plug in chrome lib 3.2 but to no avail. i hear that chrome lib 4 has this option to turn models solid for walk round purposes but when i try to get on the chrome lib website it is not there anymore. please some one help me.

Sounds like this is a question you should be posting on a Director forum, e.g, Adobe Director Support Forums, Devnet - Director or Tek-Tips.  Been ages since I've used it, but I don't recall Director 3D being able to detect collisions.  At any rate, it'd be something of a challenge without using at least some Lingo.

You can also start off by looking in the help library in Director at the pull down menu and look at some of the actions and also it gives you some samples of Lingo and how to write it. Also you ma want to invest in Lingo paperback and as for help full programs there is Electric Rain and Swiff for Max and Director. Those should be a pretty good start along with the links that B provided for you.
