Installation and how I finally got it working
Posted 04-Feb-2008 4:07 PM

If this post can save one other person the days I spend searching google its worth it - whew...

First, I could not download. It would even bring up the option to save or open. This was using IE. I tried clearing temp files and nothing helped. I finally used the Mozilla Firefox browser and downloaded without not trouble at all.

Next, when I tried installation, it would always try repairing another program I have on this computer. No matter how many times I tried it was always 'repair' or 'remove' the other program. After searching, found out if you make a directory 'gmax' in the root of your C drive and run from there, it works.

Finally, registration was easy. Whew!

I did all of that with no problem at all, now the problem for me is after putting the code, an option comes up about a 3D driver or something like that. Not knowing what it was, i clicked custom, and pressed ok. Now there is a message that says "Interactive 3D render initialization failed Please check yoru device settings by usingthe -H command line option" So the program doesnt open. Do u know why and how i can fix it?

Funny...I never had a problem with the entire process, from beginning to finished 'cube with a texture'.  I did read all the forums and chatted with other modders, before I jumped in. It was easy and painless, I knew what hardware configuration would be needed. 'H'
