New to Turbo Squid
Posted 06-Jan-2008 12:56 PM

Hi Everyone,
I have been surfing the net trying to find a place like this... finally I found Turbo Squid.
I am new to the world of texturing, and for the last year or so I have only been using photographs to texture my 3D work.  Lately, I've decided to up my skills and start creating these textures from scratch.  I use photoshop cs3 and I make all my models in 3D Max 9.
My first question is simple.  When I make my own textures I've noticed they don't seem to be as crisp on my model as they are in photoshop... they almost seem blurry at times.  I would really like to know how I go about fixing that.
Should I be making my textures in 300dpi?
Thanks for your time, and help.

maybe your texture isn't big enough for the model?

make them as high dpi as you can.

magazines use use something like 720 dpi so 300 is too low

Normally a texture is stated as pixels ie 1024. gor for a high pixel thing.

That where youre losing detail and getting blurred possibly.

Try out a few freebies on here so you can compare them.

We all use pixels by the way  1024 enlarges well but 256 doesnt,
