Our client, located in San Diego, CA, is a top independent videogame development company with a proven track record.
The Senior Web Developer will be involved in developing network technology for use on the Playstation™ line of products. The networking architecture is based on a combination of commonly available web-based technology as well as high performance proprietary technology, both of which are deployed on Linux based hardware.
This position involves designing; implementing and maintaining a J2EE based server code. The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent and 6-8 years of work experience in a Java based web development and Oracle development environment. The candidate will also be proficient with Internet protocols, have significant experience in architecting high volume web applications, and be enthusiastic about online games.
Overall, the position of Senior Web Developer is expected to partner with the organization to: Responsibilities: - Support existing Java, XML, and PL/SQL code and interface with game developers. - Develop new features on existing server set. The primary coding language is Java. - Work with other groups (including overseas travel) to help and diagnose issues in their deployments. - Troubleshoot and resolve problems
Qualifications: - The position calls for a working knowledge of Java, JSP, Oracle (SQL, PL/SQL, Tables, Triggers, etc), XML and HTML, Tomcat/Apache/webservers, and RMI. - Programming in Unix and Windows environments. - Network and web based programming. - Ability to write efficient, clear, well-commented, maintainable and portable code. - Knowledge of development environments such as Linux and Windows, and tools including compilers (e.g. javac), build tools (Ant, make), IDEs (NetBeans, Eclipse), testing frameworks (Junit, DBUnit & Jmeter) source code branching, merging and asset control systems (CVS, Subversion). - Experience with 3-tier web architectures including JMS, Spring & AJAX. - B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent and 6-8 years programming experience. Should have had roles in the career path that include junior software engineer. - Understand programming process and basic workflow of receiving tasks and communicating task status/completion. Applicant has knowledge of good software practices, revision control systems, and works efficiently and independently. Applicant must be ready, willing and able to adapt to the practices in place at SCEA. - Professional and interpersonal communication. Interface with other groups locally and worldwide.
Salary: $70-80K Base + Bonus + Full Benefits
