Please answer me.. (Newest modeling program)
Posted 02-Aug-2007 11:28 AM

Hey,

I need a program more adwanced than anim8tor because it doesn't run many things posted on turbosquid, and that makes me a little to shy to ask for a job, I program games on Game Maker, it would be great if you updated me on the latest programs,

Thanks,

Jake

Jake, I am going to try some "tough love" on you, so my reply to *what and how you posted* is going to seem harsh.

#1 - You "want to find a job" in the Game Development field, but don't know what "advanced modelling programs" there are?   Furthermore, you post this in a *specific game* board of a *specific modelling program*  Forum.  Yes, Anim8Tor doesn't "run" many of the models in turbosquid, but guess what, the model description themselves mention what program(s) they were made with, so that gives you a clue.

Just look at the various boards here in these forums, and you have an idea of many better modelling programs

Ok, I don't care what  you think about where I post it, my current program is outdated so I'm hardly gong to be on this site after I get a answer, and I posted it here because the other parts of this forum are empty and nobody replied to the first one I posted, so reply eith a link please.

The industry standard is 3DSMax, currently in version 9.   (http://www.autodesk.com)

Then there's Rhino, Maya, .....  What I was trying to say is that the different turbosquid forums are mainly for the major modelling programs in the industry.

If you're looking for a job in the gaming industry, learning 3DSMax is practically a necessity.  If you currently cannot afford a US3500+ program, gmax, available as a download from turbosquid.com/gmax, is a cheap (as in free) alternative.  The caveat is that you can't export (easily) your models from gmax to other than a game that supports gmax.

Blender is another free, reasonably full featured, modelling program and quasi-gaming platform.

Google is your best friend in this case. Just do a search on internet.
