True, I agree.
After I purchased my Adobe softwares and signed up, I get e-mails about upcoming educational seminars that are nearby me. I have attended two and learned so, sooo much about Photoshop and IllustratorCS. I no longer need 3D software to make 2D renders, or simply put, to make things appear 3D in a flat enviroment. I can do it all with PS or AICS.
Poser, Bryce, 3DsMax, all of them are wonderful for creating models for 3D immerseable enviroments, but 90% of what I must make, is for 2D posters, CD cover art, photo re-touching or enhancements.
So I guess I am saying, if you have legal Adobe software of any kind, you have tons of extra resources at their Resource Center on the web and also plenty of seminars touring the world for further education.
Formally speaking, if you require a degree for graphic arts, I would choose Devry. THey are superb, for training our tech managers at our newsprint sites and beyond and you have options at Devry that allow for A-plus certification, while also offering many avenues for financial aids and after school job placement.
