Sorry about the delayed answer, hope this information stills usefull for you.

My advise is to export your animation instead of a one .avi file, you can try to export it as a still images and import the series into Premiere Pro or another video editor utility, on the other hand if you want to save an alpha channel for example I suggest you to export your stills as .tif or .png that way you can use another backdrop.

If you want to make more sofisticated FXs you can use illusion 3.0 too.
