I have an Intel C2Duo. Gmax seems to run good but only uses one core.  Is there a way to make it use both?  Sometimes when running a script it can take quite a while and I would like to cut that time in half. : )

o if you want to run gmax on both processors bring up your  windows task manager while gmax is running and click processes then find gmax.exe right click that and then in the drop down box click "SET AFFINITY" then you can tell windows which processors you want gmax to run on.

So true, alot of current online games suffer drastically for the same reason and it's become a common practice to do as the quoted poster replied.

I'm running 3.0 Ghz Athlon FX-64, 4 Gigs RAM, PC3200 (I only use OCZ with heat shields), 6 250 Gig SATA HDDs (Western Digital Caviars) in 0+1 RAID, Asus Mobo, and Radeon 7800 GT Pro, all anchored with a home-modded liquid cooling system from Thermaltake.  Despite that, I still have some issues (Mostly in games, not any as noted in graphics, animation and rendering) due to problems with the Dual core stuff...

wow thats an insane setup. but ya the dual cores run fast on both the intel and amd sides but they still seem to do something to the games that ends up somehow slowing us all down.

Well, I have gone from RANKED online gamer (64th) to graphics.  This rig is my residual "Kill 'em all" machine from that realm...LOL...I finally got the bones ($$$) to really build from the ground up, from components for the first time (Thanks, Newegg...) and it still flies by today's standards.  But, at 45, If I'm gonna hang with the reaction time of some anxious kid with "Virtual" guns and ammo, I just buy better gear and let the hardware acceleration drive the crosshairs for me!  School has just started!...LOL

As a regular player of Star Wars BattleFront 1 & 2 (A dying but fabulous game..), especially in SWBF 1, I always had to set the affinity settings to single CPU for the online gaming environment, otherwise the lag, shutter and timing spikes will get someone with a reputation like mine WASTED real fast...People come gunning for you, looking for you specifically, cruising servers hoping to catch up to you, and...Ah well, back to the "Drawing Board"

I like this World much better...Such limitless possibilities and time is again valuable, yeah?  However, if they ever REALLY release Unreal Torurnament 3, expect me (I...ALWAYS...go by Quik_Draw, for 10 years now, so, I won't be hiding!)

ThermalTake VA8000 Armor series case

Athlon FX-64, 3.0 Ghz

Asus K8N-Sli Mobo

4 Ghz OCZ PC3200 DDR RAM

2 - 250 Ghz IDE Western Digital Caviars (RAID Primaries)

4 - 250 Ghz SATA Western Digital Caviars (RAID Secondaries, off of the MOBO jacks)

Setup as RAID 0+1

4 -  Hot swap transport bays, switch on the fly SATA drives, 2 extra Caviars

Radeon (Asus built) 7800 GT Pro

Creative  X-Fi sound card

ThermalTake "Big Water" liquid cooling system (Actually I bought 2 so I could rob the extra radiator and coolant storage tank to marry into the original system, serious anti-freeze flow) stays 32 degrees always...and...

6 - 80mm Ball bearing fans to boot...COLD EQUALS SPEED!!!

Razer Diamondback gaming mouse (Strictly gaming)

Logitech MX 5000 (For everything including some gaming)

21 Inch NEC CRT monitor (I shouldn't have to explain or defend CRT versus LCD to modelers and animators I should think!)

Creative Labs 5.1 surround

That's about the key points of my rig...All that is cheaper than you think, 2 years ago, that rig cost me about $2600 US and I know the price of the graphics card is WAY down compared to then...

Probably delete the post for hijacking the thread...DUAL CORE CPU's?

Quik_Draw!
