Royalty: an agreed portion of the income from a work paid to its author, composer, etc., usually a percentage of the retail price of each copy sold.

Basically, when you post an asset you have rights to, and it sells, the royalty is the portion of payment you receive from TurboSquid, normally about 50%.

TurboSquid is free to join. The other portion of the sale goes to Turbosquid as they do the marketing, maintenance, accounting and customer service.

Also, read the End User License Agreement (below) for more legal information/rights (since you're already a member you should read it anyway).  There is also a good deal of helpful information under Support with answers to frequently asked questions, and basic steps for buying/selling here.

The royalty depends on what country youre in ,your maximum amount  is always 50% of sales.

This depends on tax witholding which is on here somewhere.

A tax witholding of 0%  (which is me in Uk) means you get youre full 50% from sales, its an agreement reached between countries.

Anything more than 0%  on tax witholding will mean you get less than youre 50%,

the higher it is the less youll get.

All these questions are on the FAQ

"Q: What is my royalty percentage?

A. For products priced $500 or more, you receive 55%, for products priced $150-$499.99 you get 53%, and less than $150 you get 50%. "

What about submitting your Social Security Number to Squid'!?!  is it safe?  Have they had a break-in and had SSN's stolen before?  it is really the only thing that makes me nervous about submitting my work.

.....Also,  is there a size limit to the models that you can upload?  I heard somewhere that there was a 8meg limit. I have read quite a bit about becoming a reseller, but I haven't seen that question come up yet.

Thanks,

Robert

I haven't heard of any ssn break ins, but staff would know better than I do. As for a size limit, I'm well over 8mbs uploaded already. I don't think there is a size limit considering some of the architectural cityscapes that get uploaded here. The site has done right by me so far.

Robert
I have been a vendor almost from the begining and have a also had  a credit/identity theft monitoring service since then and have not one instance of suspicous activity that could be related to Turbosquid.

The part I would worry about more than any is your end of the security because you have complete control of the account and a key logger or other trojan can change everything - your userid, your name, SSN, check or paypal address.  That's kind of a low risk too since even if they did get the info, you have ~ month to react (for TS damage).  Now a days especially if you have a good credit rating, a credit monitoring service is essential.

Last week one of my cards started having multiple use attempts and I was immediately notified by my service  It's under investigation but I know it's not a TS issues because I never used it here.
