1) Software Engineer
Studio Tools

Summary of Job:

The Studio Tools Department is responsible for developing Pixar's in-house proprietary
film-making software. The Engineering Team is looking for software engineers to help
create and maintain new software for the studio. The position requires deep
understanding of software application engineering, an ability to collaborate in a small
cross-functional team of world-class developers and skill in designing and implementing
high quality code.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, test and support proprietary 3D film-making software
• Program high quality, robust, easy to maintain code and unit tests in C++, Objective-C
and Python
• Work effectively with a development team of Software Engineers, QA, Build, UI, Doc and
Project Management to provide world class software for film production

Qualifications:

• Experience programming in C++ or Objective-C
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience with modern development toolkits such as Cocoa and Qt
• Strong object-oriented design and implementation skills
• Experience with UNIX / LINUX
• Experience/Knowledge of 3D graphics, interaction techniques and 3D applications (e.g.
Maya, SOFTIMAGE) is a plus
• Proven ability to work with a team to deliver high quality software in a fast paced,
dynamic environment

2) Senior Software Infrastructure Engineer
Production Engineering

Summary of Job:

This is a senior level Software Infrastructure position in the Production Engineering
Department to help support the existing deployments of Pixar's in-house movie
production software.

We are looking for an experienced infrastructure engineer to assist in the enhancement
and maintenance of Pixar's software development tools and process. This role requires
close attention to detail, good communication skills with initiative, self-guidance and the
ability to perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a lot of technical
challenges.

This position requires close collaboration with engineering staff, project managers, and
the QA group in order to ensure the timely and high quality delivery of product to the
production crews.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for source control management, make systems, and build automation
• Develop and maintain utilities for engineering, production and QA to improve the overall
development workflow
• Maintain the RPM distributions for the development environment and enhance the tools
around that system
• Provide support to internal development teams and production with regards to build
errors and revision control issues
• Provide frontline system administration for build and automation servers

Qualifications:

• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Must have at least 5+ years experience in build infrastructure, systems administration,
and/or Unix software development, particularly in the following areas:
-autoconf/make
-Perl, Python, Shell (sh,csh) and/or Tcl scripting (solidly proficient in at least two)
-Strong object-oriented design and implementation skills
-C/C++ experience
-Perforce, CVS, RCS or Subversion revision control systems
-RPM, APT, or similar package management
-MySQL, PostGreSQL or Sybase database development
-Linux, Solaris experience necessary, OSX experience preferred
