I havent tried it but a seamless texture isnt nesscessarily any good, it depends on what you want.
A big thing big megapixels that only just overlap in actual use sounds like the ideal application for this.
Small textures, game res mininum files wouldnt work too well as they have to be seen tiled 5 or 6 times or so,anything obviously repeating really stands out then, carpets and cloth are obvious examples.
There is no software that can make it obviously non repeating without it being too bland as far as I know, you need a human eye really for the best ones.
human eye thought id get that in it seems popular.
So in fact its not even that good then? and might even be rubbish?Your 2nd post sounds a lot different fom the next
one, this brilliant program cant do this and cant do that, it sounds good if youre a bit clueless and an easy option if youre not too bothered by them being no good.
It needs a human eye lol.
lol very droll I' m sure hes got 2 very good ones ,eyes do come in useful for graphics Ive found.
Seriously though has anybody used this and found it good? It does sound ok for simple things.
It was touted on the NWN forum and I along with several people bought it for the original price. I personally found it better than any of the so called 'seamless tiling' photoshop plugins I could find out there, both free and at a price. One thing it does very well is to even out the shading/luminosity of the seams areas. I generally use it in conjunction with a couple of actions. I realign and clean up the seams first in photoshop, then I load the texture in the seamless generator to remove some highlights and blend the seams while retaining definition. Then I finish it up in my graphic programs. So it does save me quite a few steps since I can spend > 2 hrs to make a photorealistic texture seamless and patternless.
IMO it's a good program for people who need seamless textures and are not graphic designers. It can certainly be improved upon with new features to keep it up to date. e.g. copy/paste, more selection choices and new or improved file formats such as transparent PNG, DDS etc...Anyway I am not going to post pictures since this is not an advertisement, I just felt that the disparaging comments were unwarranted. The original owner used to have a test version that could do everything but save the file. To the new owner I'd say, ensure that test version is made available to people. Associate with a good programmer who can improve on the product and DON'T lower the price. This is one of these cases where the less it costs, the more people are going to think it's crap. Case in point, that drop from $24 to $6 did *wonders* for your credibility...And if you want to get rid of it, Id consider buying it from you.
N'way, good luck in your venture.
cleaning the shading on seam areas is a pig to do it sounds like its worth getting just for that
i crop it and use the high pass filter to get it even
i havent tried it sorry for disparaging remarks it does sound pretty good as a first step but i still think the best textures are pretty much painstakingly made
have a look at zydroids textures theyre well top quality.
It all depends on what you want I suppose.
PS im not a graphic designer and neither are most people who do textures its just a hobby to get a bit of extra money, but were all concerened with making them super brilliant.
Mr. Swift,
Have you tried hosting it for sale, non-exclusively, at places that allow that? Turbo Squid might arrange a deal with you to host the prog here. Next, put it up at Renderosity.com and DeviantArt.org. Personal sites are possibly, the most difficult way, to sell your wares. 'Rosity and others are well established. If your program is popular you may get it showcased there for free, to millions of viewers.
I also found you must generate your own buzz, initially with a P site. The buzz at Renderosity would either flare up fast or do nearly nothing.
Artists, by their nature are apt to pick apart your app anyways so, the first 20 or so comments should assess it's marketability for you, as long as you let the right people see it.
Your happy bootlegging theif above, did the smart thing and plugged the product in a forum. Although it's a bit spammish, there are creative ways to advertise your product on-line.
On-line advertising is still a very new challenge. Afterall, look at the industrialized corporation, as a whole? They are barely over 100 years old and historically speaking, they are still babes in the woods, still making overall errors and discovering better, more efficient tactics. On-line business is still being breast fed to maturity, in retrospect and there are a few of us, who keep an eye on this and have watched the web grow over many years.
I see your point sswift I've spent days at a time on one single texture, the main prob has been does it look good tiled x 4 or 5? This is where an otherwise good texture fails a lot.
And you said thousands of photos lol.
Anything that helps people and works well has to be good.
Hi shawn I looked on google and got to your site, it seems a shame you have so many adverts there on what is basically a good product ,some of them competing directly against you, maybe you could have a rethink on the site?
You know best .
You'd have a lot more artisitic expression on a redone site with no adverts and be able to plug it and show it off a lot more which is pretty essential really.
A showcase would be good, best of luck
The thing is mkill I dont admire them they are THEIFS!
Maybe they thought it was a bit out of the way and unknown and they could get away with it, no chance, theres too many people on here who know if a things ripped off.
Eveyrone knows a burglar gets nicked by the cops now and then caught redhanded, they are duly sentenced for stealing property belonging to someone else.
To me internet theft is the same thing but its hard to prove and who do you go to?
Its like these films on bit torrents people are giving them free, its a gift, you cant really prosecute people for receiving a gift you have to get back to the original source.
