Converting GMAX file to BGL
Posted 30-Sep-2005 8:15 PM

Its not that I am lazy, its just I havn't the time to learn a complicated process, unless made simple.

I have a GMAX hangar design for FS9.  I have this in GMAX file format.  I want to convert this into a .bgl format for use as a macro with say RWY12 Object Placer.

Can anyone either take this file and convert it as above for me or in simple form explain how to achieve this?

Thanks

I have this issue too. I  created a simple object. A ball and selected "white color". I saved it as ball.gmax

How do I convert a gmax file to a BGL?  I want to use this as a FSX (Flight sim) object in  a scenery/texture folder.

I tried save as..as well as Export to. But it does not seem to recognize bgl format.

And since I slected "white" as the color, does that mean, the bmp texture is also part of the gmax file?

Hi,

You need to install the gamepack for the FS version you are using. For FSX the gamepack is part of the SDK that comes with the Deluxe version. Once you have that installed you can export the object as MDL. Which you can then convert to a BGL later on with BGLComp. The MDL is basically only the object and using a XML file and BGLComp will place it at a certain position for you.
