Yet, you replied to this forum thread. In doing this, you should have read the first reply where it was listed all the necessary steps to register including your particular case.

We"re both in the same boat then! But like Morrisey once said "I was looking for a job and then I found a job,and heaven knows I"m miserable now."

eu2521339, did you read the whole message thread starting at the beginning page 1 or did you jump directly did a reply without reading ?

Read the beginning of the thread. Don't just reply when you have the answer right there.

This has probably been asked but...

My code says it's out of date. Why?

It's because there is an expiration code inside it so entering past 1-2 days after you register will invalid the code.

How to bypass this ?

Simple, change your PC clock to match the EXACT time and date shown on your registration email you got with the code. Then enter the code. Once GMAX is fully done, change back the PC clock.

You know if the information was boldly printed about the built in date expiration many the people above would not have even bothered posting that they are having issues.  In the past there has been a posted option directly on the main support page explaining how to workaround registration code issues.  None of those answers included download links to workaround executables or install this file here and this other file there explanations are lined out in the first post in this thread.  I had to read an entire thread to page 6 to find an answer to my own problem that could be answered with a simple try this first as part of the first post.  Not to mention most people will not read 20-30 posts that can date more than 12 months old when the first thread has shown an update much more recently than that.

I for one have also noticed a slap in the face tendancy of the moderators here to ignore the question or plea for help by others and tell people to follow obscure directions first then after 2 or 3 posts try to ask questions.  Learn your Jobs your Jobs here is to provide support instead you provide the ever growing trend of go somewhere else we don't want to help.

Don't like what I have to say keep it to yourself as I've gotten what I need out of this thread after reading all of the first 5 pages of useless posts inclusive of and most importantly the first post to find my answer on the 6th page's first post.

The same thread you did a reply has some specific instructions to try for those that have problems with their registration code and also gives  a link to a workaround. The whole thread has only 2 pages.

It looks like you were reading the wrong thread but replied on the right one.

Having to answer the same question 10-20 times per week, answering it with the solution every time is time consuming. People looking for a solution to their problems in our forums don't botter doing a forum search 90% of the times. So us having to always answer them is time cumsuming if they had done a forum search. Look at all other forums in any other sites, their FAQ specificly says to do a forum search before posting any questions at all. So it only natural for us to tell people to do a forum search before posting any questions. Did you ?

myCon, if you have tried all the procedures listed in the top of this thread and you still didn't managed to get GMAX registered, then you will have to give us more informations to find out what is wrong.

When you try the link below (like you mentioned), what happens or what is it that you don't understand ?

http://www.turbosquid.com/Support/Index.cfm?stgSupportModule=SupportGmax&FuseAction=GmaxSupportHelp

Does your system meet the minimal requirements to run GMAX ?

What language do you speak easily ?  French, Italian, Greek, Spanish, ... ?

Blobb, if you had installed GMAX in the past and never had to re-install windows since then, it is possible it knows you had it and automaticaly picked up the registration from your previous installation.

If you can use it, then don't bother with the registration.

it doesn't work why ?

what happens when you enter it ?

is there a 2 digit code in the upper right corner when you do it ?

we need more details. Its like saying to the garage mechanics "my car doesn't work"

I havent used gmax in a while, so when i decided to go on it today the Welcome To Gmax box poped up, copy and pasted my code, hit continue, then a erorr box came up saying" cannot continue, registration was not succsesful", i hit ok, then another came up saying "gmax failed" to start. it is an old code, that might be the sorce of the problem. i also tried the workaround, the first file,"gmax_1" did not work, but "gmax_2" worked. i would like to have gmax back, i need it for FS9

RE: Registration code not working or didn't arrived ?

I've just downloaded the gmax self extraction file, and I have also received the registration code. However, when I run the gmax installation, I get as far as the stage where it says "it is strongly recommended that you exit all window programs before running this setup program" etc. When I press next, a popup appears "MSI9D" -Registry key not found. After which I have to close the setup. I have no way to insert the registration code. Does anyone know how to solve this?

lets round up the usual suspects

- what is your current windows version ?

- what is your current DirextX version ?

- is it a laptop or desktop ?

- how often do you update your computer ?

- have you checked the MD5 checksum of your installation against our own numbers to verify that your copy is instact and not corrupted ?

- did you use a download accelerator or similar when you downloaded gmax ?

- where did you downloaded gmax from ?

- have you done a google search on the error message ?

-Windows XP

-Not sure, how do I check?

-desktop

-what do you mean by how often do I update my computer? as in, what kind of updates are you referring to?

-no, how do I do that?

-no

-This site

-Yes, and it came to this site, as it is the same problem as mentioned in this post "When I run the installation file for gmax, it goes through the first 2 steps of your presentation, but when I click "next", it says "registry key not found", then says "error 1722. There is a problem with this windows installer package. a program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. contact your support personnel or package vendor." It then goes on to tell me that the installation failed because of an error or something, and closes out. I attempted to add the registry files in the workaround, but the second registry file wouldn't work correctly. I believe it said something about being unable to access the registry. The first file works just fine, but sadly it is only half of the necessary files...any help? Thanks in advance ^_^."  (on the second page)

- what is your current DirextX version ?

You check by going in your START menu, then click RUN and enter dxdiag. Press OK have it run all diagnostics. It will tell you from the first page what version you have.

- how often do you update your computer ?

I mean you do update your windows with microsoft updates by using the Automatic Software tool or visiting the WIndows Update site, right ?  If not, then please do it and get all updates. If you cannot do this and not because you are not an admin on your own PC, then ...

- have you checked the MD5 checksum of your installation against our own numbers to verify that your copy is instact and not corrupted ?

Do a forum search for "md5 checksum" and one of the forum post will give you a link to the MD5 checksum numbers I have and also where to get the software for this (there are other MD5 checksum software but this is the one I used the first time).

Is your logon on your PC capable of doing administrator type of work ? If you do not have administrative rights, there are lots of installations you will not be able to do. Find whomever is administrator of your own PC and have him/her do it.
