RE: registration code

When I run the installation file for gmax, it goes through the first 2 steps of your presentation, but when I click "next", it says "registry key not found", then says "error 1722. There is a problem with this windows installer package. a program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. contact your support personnel or package vendor." It then goes on to tell me that the installation failed because of an error or something, and closes out. I attempted to add the registry files in the workaround, but the second registry file wouldn't work correctly. I believe it said something about being unable to access the registry. The first file works just fine, but sadly it is only half of the necessary files...any help? Thanks in advance ^_^. |

2) if step-1 doesn't work, then go get a new code from http://www.turbosquid.com/support and try it out
At this link, find this string below and click on it. It will give you a registration code without using email.
OK I just signed up to this sire to obtain this magic impossible to obtain code to use GMax 1.2 If I had known that a code was needed and all this hassle with trying to obtain it, I wouldn't have bothered downloading this so called FREE utiltiy.
OK so I now have a turbosquid account and guess what......still no GMax code !!!!!!! I followed exactly as you stated above..."It will give you a registration code without using email".....great no more forms to fill in....instant code as you worded it..........ARRRGGGHHH....more forms asking this time for some very personal info like phone numbers, addresses etc.......
WHY didn't or don't you make it clear next time that in order to obtain the GMax code you have to fill out a UN-SECURE Form with personal and private details !!!!!!!!!!!!
To register gmax and receive your activation code via email, please complete the following steps But you said.....It will give you a registration code without using email.
What's going on here ???? Is this a FREE software product or are we just being duped with a time-limited demo in order to obtain personal details for marketing (spamming) purposes ????
Can you make this form an SSL secure form please...this is a public internet with alot of network sniffers, spammers, phishers etc......it's 2006 now !!!! |

I been pulling my hair out now for last hour waiting for this code to arrive....I just stumbled across this thread and this post here:
You don' need a new account.
Just go to http://www.turbosquid.com/Support/Index.cfm?stgSupportModule=SupportGmax&FuseAction=GmaxSupportHelp
It will give you a new registration code right there.
Now WHY don't you just put this short message and a link to this webpage somewhere at the top of this forum or as a stickie:
TO OBTAIN YOUR GMAX CODE PLEASE SIGNUP TO TURBOSQUID HERE THEN PLEASE LOGIN AND GO TO THIS PAGE
Or even include the link to this page in the sign-up welcome letter. It's much easier than all those forms and thread searching. Or are you or discreet looking to obtain a user database for some purpose ?? |

bedlamuk, I will revise the procedure in this thread. It has been done a long time ago, so there might be errors in it. No one until now has pointed possible errors in it.
thx. |

After reading all the threads I could possibly find, nothing seems to address the problem of the code simply not working. As soon as I enter the code and click continue, a screen pops up and says; "Cannot Continue. Registration is not successful." And then another screen pops up; "Gmax failed to start." I have tried numerous other codes from the support site, but nothing seems to work. I have 4 Hard Drives in my computer, and have tried installing Gmax on all four with the same results. What now??? |

Two questions to you then :
1) is your PC clock accurate ? Does it indicate the same time and date as your watch
2) did you get your codes from registration site or from the support site (like I indicated in the re-written first message of this thread) ?

Yes, my PC clock is accurate. And yes, I read and understood all that has been written before and got the code from the support site. I still get the same error as before. Copy and paste, or painfully copying it by hand one character at a time results in the same problem. Also, the "workaround" does not work either, a whole new error set shows up. |

Sexmaniac8, go back to the instructions and use the registry workaround.

Ok, first and formost, my screen name is saxmaniac8, not sexmaniac8. Second, if you had read my thread, I had already said the workaround does not work. With that said, what is the problem????? |

Darn! wish I could help you all out, but with gmax being so quirky at times ; I hate to try and uninstall/re-install.
I got my latest version of Gmax from here at TS and 3 months ago. Gmax DL'ed perfectly. Got my keycode to pop up and click copy and paste into window viola! gmax runs fine!
In order for someone to address your dilemmas, they will have to put themselves into, your pairs of shoes and try to install it fresh, maybe?
BrowserIce ol' pal? would that help give them a clearer picture? Guess I could try it over again and refresh my memory on DL'ing gmax, eh? |

Saxmaniac8, what is your PC configuration ?
Do you meet the minimal PC requirements ?
There has to be a problem with your PC. Your amongst the first to say even the workaround doesn't work. |

We are going to need more infos from you to fix this.
what is your pc configuration :
- windows version ?
- service pack 1 or 2 ?
- DirectX version ?
- does your logon-id have administrator rights ?
- how much PC memory ?
- where did you get your GMAX installation file ?
- did you have any problems at all when you installed GMAX ? error messages, ... ? |

I used my brothers computer to DL Gmax and put it on a CD as he has broadband and I only have dialup.Got it home and it loaded OK,but the problems started when I got the Reg Code.It says "copy and paste" but since I don"t normally use copy and paste I copied the Code onto paper to input it manually.I get as far as the 2nd figure and the red cross comes up.How do I copy and paste it and why won"t it let me put it in manually? |

Lewisner, since this is for someone who doesn't have internet, did you run the registry workaround before starting GMAX ?
If so, you shouldn't get the registration box. |
