Installation of Gamepak

Hi,
I'm trying to install the tempest gamepack so i can have access to a MD3 exporter to be converted to 3DS max. I downloaded the pak at turbo squid but when I try to install, I get this error message

Could Not Find C:\gmax\gamepacks\Tempest\TempestDev.lnk

I do not own quake 3, i just needed to MD3 exporter. I've also tried Chris' MD3 script but I don't know how to use it properly though i believe i installed it right.

Any Help is appreciated

To do MD3 model formats, you don't need Tempest at all.
You only need the MD3 exporter pluging new and improved version done by Chris Cookson.

Once you have it, put it into the folder ..\gmax\plugins

I have the same problem !!! The tempest installation halts at the "can't find tempestdev.ink".

I want this for IMPORTING not just EXPORTING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Tempest gamepack installation file is faulty. To install it, just open it with Winzip and unzip it into /gmax/gamepacks/*

the gmax_tempest_install_guide gives you a complete description of how to go about the process to make your tempest get working.
I had the same trouble but the pdf helped me to figure my way out.

It is a sticky thread in one of the GMAX forums. I think its in the Pixel and bits.

Just do a forum search on "Chris Cookson"

I did this and now not only can I open tempest but I can't open gmax :(
