GMax 1.2 Freezes :(
Posted 13-Oct-2004 5:02 PM

Hi guys! My first post here.
I've just installed gmax today, and there's just one problem.
The program opens fine and so on, but when i try to use the toolbar (you know, that top bar), it shows the normal "sub-menu" and when i then click on one of the things in that sub-menu, the whole damn thing freezes and i have to ctrl+alt+del out of it

I'm running Win XP Pro if that's any help :)

check the minimal requirements for GMAX at http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax to see if it is Win98 compatible.

As for Win-XP, it could be a multitude of causes.
What's your system configuration (speed, memory, video card,...) ?

Do you have an anti-virus software checking every programs/files you use ?

I have the same problem with my top tool bars. Any time I try to use the top menu, gmax will freeze on me. I am able to use gmax fine if I don't use them. To work in gmax without the freeze, I just hit F10 and use keys to operate the menu without using the mouse.
This allows me to work, but it doesn't explain why it is happening...
My specs:
1.8 Celeron
768 Mb ram
128 mb Nvidia 5200 fx gfx card

BTW, changing the drivers, openGL,direct3d,etc... made no difference in the problem.

I had this problem recently on Windows x64 and I finally found a solution which may or may not help you.

I went through each and every process on the task manager killing one, trying it, killing another etc and discovered that it was a process called RTSHookInterop.exe which was part of Ultramon (multiple monitor application).

I contacted Realsoft regarding the problem and it was identified and fixed in Ultramon 2.6 patch 3, which after I downloaded removed the menu freeze issue.

Hope this is of some help.
