TEXT APPLICATION

I can apply text to a flat surface however, how is text applied to a curved surface?

It depends on how you are applying the text. If you are using the Gmax text then it's going to be like nailling jelly to a wall and it's going to result in dozens of polygons. The best way is to put your text in a TGA file and map the TGA file on to whatever surface you want the text onto. Put your background colour or colours behind the text you want when you make the TGA and Bob's your uncle.
